FAQ
Questions? Answered.
Everything new students ask before their first class.
How much is membership?
Atlas has one plan, Unlimited, billed monthly with no contracts. See the current price on the membership page.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Send a quick request on our free trial page, or just show up to any class and introduce yourself to the instructor.
Do I need any experience to start?
Absolutely not. Most of our students started with zero experience. Our classes are beginner-friendly — you'll learn at your own pace with instructors and training partners who support your growth.
Do I need to be in shape first?
No. Training is how you get in shape. You just need the willingness to learn — we'll help you build the rest.
What should I wear to my first class?
For your first class, wear athletic clothes with no zippers, pockets, or buttons, and bring water. Once you join, we train in rashguards and grappling shorts (spats optional) — see the Student Handbook for the full gear guide.
Do you train in the gi?
No — Atlas is a no-gi academy. No-gi is fast, modern, and translates directly to both competition and self-defense.
How long are classes?
Classes are 60 minutes: warm-up, technique instruction, drilling, and optional live sparring. Open Mat and Skill Labs are more flexible.
Am I too old to start?
Absolutely not. Jiu-jitsu is for all ages and fitness levels.
Is gym access included in the membership?
Yes. Every Atlas membership includes 24/7 access to The Mecca Gym — weights, conditioning, showers and sauna — so you can strength train and recover on your own time.
How clean is the gym?
We clean and sanitize the mats and training areas daily. Cleanliness is a top priority — for safety, hygiene, and respect for your training space.
Will I get hurt?
Safety comes first. We train with control, match intensity to our partner's level, and tap early. Dangerous techniques like slams are not allowed.
Can I visit from another gym?
Yes — visitors are welcome. Reach out before you come so we know to expect you, and follow our mat etiquette.
