Chase Riddick, Head Instructor & Founder

Meet your instructor

Chase Riddick

Black belt · Head Instructor & Founder

Chase is a black belt under the lineage of the late Keith Owen, a respected Pedro Sauer black belt. After Keith's passing, the journey continued — with black belt promotion awarded by Josh Arentz, one of his most senior students.

Chase created Atlas with a clear vision: to build a non-traditional studio that's free from politics, drama, and ego — a place where people simply train hard and love the art of jiu-jitsu.

What our students say

From the mats.

Atlas Jiu Jitsu is easily the best gym in the treasure valley. Great coaching, great structure, and positive vibes

Google review

Hands down the best No-Gi JiuJitsu gym in the Gem State. Flexible schedules, encouraging coaches and a teaching style that helps anyone learn. The environment is super chill and friendly and the best part is that there is no Ego or Surprise fee’s. Overall amazing spot.

Google review

As a veteran who just started BJJ last week, I was looking for community, structure, and a strong workout. Atlas has all three. The coaches are professional, the environment is welcoming, and the people make it easy to keep showing up.

Google review (excerpt)

Great atmosphere and coaching; intense but also safe, no one cranks submissions. It’s all No-Gi, and Chase (the head coach) specializes in helping wrestlers cross over to submission grappling. So if you, like me, don’t have a wrestling background, It’s a great place to develop both wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu skills

Google review

I’ve trained at a lot of gyms around the Treasure Valley, and Atlas Jiu-Jitsu is easily my favorite and now my home gym.

Safe training environment. High-level instruction. Great community.

Google review

Great gym that specializes in Nogi.

How much is membership?

Atlas has one plan, Unlimited, billed monthly with no contracts. See the current price on the membership page.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Send a quick request on our free trial page, or just show up to any class and introduce yourself to the instructor.

Do I need any experience to start?

Absolutely not. Most of our students started with zero experience. Our classes are beginner-friendly — you'll learn at your own pace with instructors and training partners who support your growth.

Do I need to be in shape first?

No. Training is how you get in shape. You just need the willingness to learn — we'll help you build the rest.

What should I wear to my first class?

For your first class, wear athletic clothes with no zippers, pockets, or buttons, and bring water. Once you join, we train in rashguards and grappling shorts (spats optional) — see the Student Handbook for the full gear guide.

How long are classes?

Classes are 60 minutes: warm-up, technique instruction, drilling, and optional live sparring. Open Mat and Skill Labs are more flexible.
